Veggie Paaji | Best of Every City

Veggie Paaji explores different Indian cities, discovering everything from famous street food and iconic restaurants to underrated local favourites. After covering a city through multiple videos, we bring together the best experiences into a final Top 10 or Top 15 Food Places compilation.

I worked on creating these city-wise compilation videos for destinations including Indore, Delhi, and Kanpur.

The interesting challenge? We had no access to the original raw footage. Everything had to be recreated using already-edited and published YouTube videos.

This pushed me to explore new tools, develop a different editing workflow, and turn existing content into fresh, engaging food guides.

01. Making Old Footage Work Again

No raw files. No problem.

Since the original footage wasn't available, I had to figure out how to work with the final published videos.

I explored different tools and methods to download the existing YouTube videos in high quality, including 4K wherever available, while preserving as much visual quality as possible.

This helped me develop a practical workflow for reusing previously edited content without compromising the quality of the final compilation.

02. Cleaning Up the Original Audio

Separating the experience from the music.

One of the biggest technical challenges was dealing with the audio from the existing videos.

Since those videos already contained background music, sound effects, and dialogue, I explored audio separation and cleanup tools to reduce the music while preserving Veggie Paaji's original food reactions and tasting descriptions.

This allowed me to reuse the most authentic moments from each visit and combine them with fresh narration.

03. Turning Multiple Videos Into One Story

15 places. One complete food journey.

Every city had multiple videos covering different restaurants and dishes. My job was to bring those experiences together into one engaging compilation.

We used fresh voiceovers from Veggie Paaji to introduce each location, followed by the original tasting footage and reactions from the published videos.

The challenge was to condense each food experience into roughly two minutes while keeping the important details, honest reactions, and overall story intact.

04. Connecting Every Food Stop

Making transitions feel like part of the journey.

To make the compilations visually consistent, I designed dedicated transition screens between restaurants and food locations.

These screens featured location names, food photographs, and supporting graphics, helping viewers clearly understand when the video was moving to the next place.

This gave the compilation a more organised structure and made the journey through each city's food scene easier to follow.

05. Building a Smarter Editing Workflow

Finding solutions instead of starting from scratch.

This project was a different editing experience because most of the work involved rebuilding stories from finished content.

From sourcing high-quality videos and restoring usable audio to combining new voiceovers with original reactions, I developed a more resourceful approach to post-production.

It also helped me improve my ability to select the strongest moments, shorten lengthy experiences, and maintain consistency across multiple city-based compilations.

What I Learned

This project taught me how to create something new from content that was already finished.

I gained hands-on experience with content repurposing, audio restoration, high-quality video sourcing, visual transitions, and compilation-based storytelling.

My biggest takeaway was learning how to overcome technical limitations creatively, turning multiple existing videos into one fresh, organised, and entertaining food guide without needing the original footage.
