BingeBuddy was one of my initial UI/UX projects that I made as part of a design assignment where the visual direction was already kinda decided — dark mode with a red accent system inspired by platforms like Netflix. So instead of trying to completely reinvent the style, I focused more on making the experience feel clean, easy to navigate, and something binge-watchers would actually enjoy using.

While working on it, I kept thinking about how most streaming platforms throw a lot of content at users all at once, which can get overwhelming really fast. So one thing I tried solving was making content-heavy screens feel easier to scan without removing too much information. I experimented a lot with spacing, hierarchy, thumbnails, and card layouts to make everything feel more organized and less cluttered.

The red accent color was mainly used to highlight important actions, active states, and watch progress instead of just using it everywhere. Since the base design system was already dark and cinematic, I wanted the interface to still feel balanced and not overly aggressive visually.

I also tried keeping the interaction patterns familiar because users already understand how OTT apps work. Instead of making things overly experimental, I focused more on making navigation feel natural and intuitive while still giving the UI its own personality through typography, layouts, and content grouping.

Since this was one of my earlier projects, it also became a huge learning experience for me in understanding consistency and design systems. It made me realize how much small things like spacing, alignment, typography scale, and reusable components actually shape the overall product experience.

Looking back at it now, this project was one of the first times I started thinking beyond just “making screens look good” and more about designing an experience that feels smooth, familiar, and visually engaging at the same time.
