Studying English literature taught me just how under represented India and its authors remain, especially those who don't write in English. Over the course of two years, I studied deeply about how this affects India, our sense of cultural identity, and how fundamentally colonised we remain culturally. This gave birth to Purple Pencil Project, a venture to take Indian stories to the world. Over many pivots and iterations later, today it operates as a localisation agency offering translation services, a community of authors, writers, and readers, and an active database of Indian literature in translation.
