I am a Community Manager and Growth Marketer with 1.7 years of extensive experience in Book Marketing, Event Management, Communications, and Partnerships. At my previous role at the start-up Swell, I built, scaled, and leveraged a 4000 members-strong student literary community from the ground up(this was the number of followers on the community's profile on the Swell app, however, I reached 36,000 students directly and indirectly), executing book marketing services for several major publishers including Penguin Random House.
In a first for the company, through this community (named “Brave New Words”), author clients were onboarded onto the Swell app. My work involved collaborating with book clubs/literary societies from over 50+ colleges and universities pan-India, including India's top-most institutions - IITs, NITs and DU colleges (with around 140 colleges in total in the network).
As the Growth Marketing Manager of Swell, I have also organised and hosted in-person literary events for author clients, with prestigious colleges and collectives in Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Delhi, as well as online with colleges and universities across the country. I planned and set up author interviews between designated student readers and authors, posted on the Swell app to be accessed by people across the globe. I mapped books to be sent to students and curated 100+ premium audio-based reviews on the app and Instagram reels on literary societies’ Instagram pages, for more than 25 titles sent by collaborating publishers - Penguin Random House, Simon and Schuster, Harper Collins, Rupa Publications, Aleph Books, to name a few (with the reels often strategised and scripted, by me).
Leveraging this community, I have organised the campaign "Make India Read More" alongside Amazon and National Book Trust, through Swell - resulting in 400+ donated books from students from 12 colleges pan-India, as well as hundreds of stories on Instagram from the donors, and several reels by official pages of college literary societies showcasing their active participation.
When Swell collaborated with one of India's most beloved authors, Amish Tripathi, I organised a reel and story campaign across 10 student literary societies across India promoting the pre-order of his recent book “The Chola Tigers”.
