Among the Flipkart users in India, people above the age of 60 amount to approximately just 4.9% of the customer base! Qualitative methods confirmed that senior citizens found the tech-heavy approach of e commerce to be an entry barrier. To solve this, we propose the idea of an AI-agent-based chatbot that understands user intent and performs actions accordingly. Think of it like a personal AI-assistant for all your shopping needs. Unlike a conversational LLM-based bot that provides text-based replies, our agentic-ai bot is capable of performing actions like cancelling an order, scheduling a return, and more through voice commands or via text. We plan to integrate all major regional languages in the bot to eliminate the barrier of English & Tech, which will attract significantly more customers from a diverse nation like India. This strategy will not only help in customer acquisition but also enhance the business operations as well. Flipkart currently has a lot of product returns, and using an AI assistant to understand the user intent and address the customer complaints will free up the customer service team for more strategic work. To further illustrate the working of our bot, we have included a use case of how our product feature makes the user journey of a Flipkart customer much easier as well.
