Category Building & Omnichannel Beauty Growth Strategy

Goal:

To help MoroMaa build awareness and educate the Indian audience about Moroccan beauty rituals, execution of experiential channels and a direct-to-consumer growth engine and scale through content-to-commerce and omnichannel setup.

What I Did:

Identified that MoroMaa’s first challenge is not simply product awareness but educating Indian consumers about Moroccan beauty rituals and creating demand for unfamiliar products.

Stage 1: Build Awareness Through Education & with Founder as a face of brand

Founder-Face of Brand:
Position the founder as the face for Moroccan beauty because she has personally experienced and understands these traditions. This creates a more authentic way to explain the rituals, ingredients, usage, and cultural context than relying entirely on external influencers.

Content-led demand generation:
Use Moroccan beauty-focused blogs and founder-led reels to educate customers before pushing products. Instead of launching products without established awareness, first build understanding and interest around the rituals and then introduce the relevant products.

Content-to-conversion approach:
Create an education funnel where customers discover Moroccan beauty rituals through blogs and reels, understand the benefits and usage, and then move to MoroMaa’s website to purchase.

Offline BTL & Experiential channels

Premium offline events:
Run BTL activations at premium malls and other relevant locations to directly educate customers and introduce them to Moroccan beauty rituals.

Experiential Channels:
Use these events not only as sales channels but also as experiential channels to help customer to understand the product and experience it, thus generates purchase intent.

Example – Argan Nila:
Argan Nila is a relatively unfamiliar SKU for Indian customers. Through BTL events, customers can physically experience and smell Nila before purchasing, reducing the barrier associated with an unfamiliar product and potentially enabling immediate conversion.

Meta Acquisition

Meta Ads strategy:
Target premium customers through founder-led reels and direct them to the MoroMaa website.

Strategic advantage:
The website-led model allows MoroMaa to educate customers throughout the purchase journey, retain better margins compared with marketplace-led sales, and collect first-party customer data that can be used for future retention and acquisition.

Stage 2: Tira as a Strategic Distribution Channel

After establishing initial awareness and validating customer demand through direct and offline channels, use Tira as a scaling channel for MoroMaa.

Strategic alignment:
Position Moroccan beauty as a distinct beauty-ritual category alongside established global beauty movements such as K-Beauty and J-Beauty, creating the opportunity to build MoroMaa around its own M-Beauty positioning.

Content-to-commerce fit:
Tira’s content-to-commerce model can complement MoroMaa’s education-first approach by connecting beauty discovery, content, and product purchase.

Omnichannel experience:
Tira’s omnichannel experiential stores can provide an additional physical discovery and trial environment for products that may require customers to understand, smell, or experience them before purchase.

Challenges and Learning:

The primary challenge is creating awareness and understanding for Moroccan beauty rituals among Indian consumers who may be unfamiliar with the category.

Founder-led content can address the education gap by using the founder’s personal experience and knowledge of Moroccan traditions.

Launching products without first establishing category understanding can create an education barrier, making content-led demand generation an important first-stage strategy.

Offline BTL events can simultaneously function as marketing, product-trial, and customer-research channels, particularly for unfamiliar products such as Argan Nila.

A direct-to-consumer website provides greater control over customer education, margins, and first-party data, while Tira can subsequently provide access to a larger beauty-focused commerce ecosystem.

The overall strategy follows a two-stage approach: educate and validate through owned and experiential channels first, then scale distribution through Tira.

Result:

Proposed a founder-led education strategy to introduce Moroccan beauty rituals to Indian consumers.

Proposed Moroccan beauty blogs and founder-led reels to build awareness and educate customers before product launches.

Proposed premium-mall BTL events as both customer acquisition and experiential channels.

Proposed founder-led Meta Ads driving premium customers directly to the MoroMaa website to improve education, maintain better margins, and collect first-party customer data.

Proposed Tira as the second-stage distribution channel based on its alignment with global beauty rituals, content-to-commerce model, and omnichannel experiential stores.
