AIris is a web-based, gamified eye-screening platform designed to make vision checks more accessible, engaging, and private for students. Built in collaboration with optometrists, AIris combines clinically-validated screening tests with playful interaction to reduce anxiety and stigma around eye health. The platform currently includes assessments for colour vision deficiency (Ishihara), visual acuity, reading-stress indicators, and macular function. Results are analysed using artificial intelligence to generate personalised reports that highlight potential concerns while maintaining strict data security and user privacy.

AIris is built using React, Supabase, and secure encryption protocols, enabling instant cloud-based access and seamless data sharing with eye-care professionals. Users receive clear, actionable insights, while doctors gain a decision-support tool to streamline early detection and timely intervention. By integrating technology, health education, and accessibility, AIris aims to empower young people to take ownership of their vision health and ensure no student’s learning is limited by undiagnosed visual issues.
