BSc Chemistry — Birla College of Arts, Science & Commerce (Affiliated to Mumbai University | 2015–2018)
What I studied: Across three years, I covered a wide and rigorous curriculum: Chemistry (Industrial, Organic, Inorganic), Botany, and Zoology in depth, along with extensive lab practicals every semester. By final year, I had specialised fully into Chemistry.
What I actually took away (that matters for design):
Three years of science trained me in something most designers build slowly: structured observation and systematic thinking.
Every lab practical had a process: hypothesize, test, document, iterate. Every experiment that failed taught me to ask why before jumping to a fix. Working across subjects as different as cell biology and industrial chemistry taught me to context-switch quickly and find patterns across very different systems.
That's exactly how I approach UX now, understand the problem before reaching for a solution, test assumptions early, and document everything.
Science also made me comfortable with ambiguity and dead ends. Not every experiment works. Not every design direction is right. What matters is the rigour you bring to figuring out why.
