Goal:
Develop a product marketing strategy that positions Josh Talks AI as the infrastructure powering multilingual speech AI in India, while translating complex AI capabilities into clear business value for enterprise customers, AI teams, and decision-makers.
Tools & Approaches Used:
Product Marketing, GTM Strategy, Market Research, Strategic Positioning, Competitive Analysis, Messaging Frameworks, AI Infrastructure Research, Technical Storytelling, Content Strategy.
What I Did:
Identified the core market gap
Analyzed why speech AI models that perform well on benchmarks often struggle in production across India's multilingual, code-mixed conversational environments. Used these insights to define the central positioning narrative.
Developed the product positioning strategy
Positioned Josh Talks AI as the data and evaluation infrastructure for Indian speech AI rather than another speech model, creating a differentiated market narrative centered around infrastructure instead of models.
Built the strategic messaging framework
Mapped the company's data collection pipeline, Voice of India benchmark, and Human-1 conversational model into a single training and evaluation flywheel, explaining how each layer reinforces the next to accelerate model improvement.
Created a competitive differentiation narrative
Used the ImageNet analogy to demonstrate how Voice of India could become the common evaluation standard for Indian speech AI while proprietary datasets provide the infrastructure required to improve model performance.
Produced multi-channel product marketing assets
Translated the positioning into multiple communication formats, including:
Product Marketing Memo
LinkedIn post
X (Twitter) thread
Each asset communicated the same strategic narrative while adapting the messaging for different audiences and levels of technical depth.
Challenges & Learnings:
Simplifying deep technical concepts
The primary challenge was translating AI infrastructure, multilingual datasets, and evaluation benchmarks into messaging that business stakeholders could quickly understand without sacrificing technical credibility.
Connecting features to customer outcomes
A key learning was that effective product marketing focuses less on describing features and more on explaining the business problems they solve. Every capability was reframed around faster localization, improved production performance, and reduced deployment friction.
Building differentiation through positioning
The assignment reinforced that strong positioning is rarely about inventing new features. It's about identifying the company's unique strategic advantage and communicating it in a way competitors cannot easily replicate.
Result / Outcome:
Developed a comprehensive product marketing strategy that positioned Josh Talks AI as the infrastructure layer enabling multilingual speech AI rather than simply another AI model.
Created a consistent messaging framework across long-form and social content while demonstrating product strategy, market research, technical storytelling, and GTM thinking.
