Technology is undoubtedly one of the most influential aspects of our lives, constantly evolving to simplify and improve our daily routines. It amazes me how seamlessly modern technology fits into our lives, allowing us to order anything from anywhere and have it delivered within 24 hours or connect with people on different continents with a single phone call.
My journey into the world of technology began at the age of 12 in my eighth grade classroom. The first spark of curiosity ignited when I contacted Smart Board - it was an innovative tool and I was fascinated by its possibilities. I wanted to understand the technology behind it, how it worked, how it simplified teaching, and what made it so unique. As I delved into my research, I discovered the vast range of technology and the opportunities it offered, especially in the aerospace, automotive, and communications industries. Early passion implanted the seeds for my life in curiosity and enthusiasm for studying technical potential.
My relationship with technology further deepened the playoffs using an unexpected approach. At first, I remembered trivial facts, like Apple's current CEO Cook or the pioneering work of its founder Steve Jobs. While that was exciting, it wasn't until I got into the competition that I realized the need to go beyond surface knowledge. Instead of just learning the facts, I began to explore the company’s roots, understand technical terminology, and study the early designs of iconic innovations. This process was not only educational, but also extremely rewarding, as it allowed me to connect my business knowledge with my growing passion for computer science.
Today, this convergence of disciplines has shaped my unique perspective, allowing me to understand how technology is both a marvel of human achievement and a gateway to infinite possibilities. Artificial intelligence is one of the emerging technologies that has profoundly impacted the lives of millions of people in recent years. It has enabled unprecedented human endeavors, from healthcare and education to the creative industries and problem-solving.
One question that constantly lingers in my mind is "How will AI impact us?". In just ten years, artificial intelligence has made tremendous strides. It’s already being applied to solve some of society’s biggest problems, and it has quickly become an integral part of our day-to-day lives. Advances in machine learning mean that computers can learn by themselves—and they are getting better at an astonishing rate. As these technologies continue to develop, what will their impact be on us? How will we work alongside them? And how will we keep them safe? These questions are only beginning to be answered.
While artificial intelligence isn’t going to take over and lead humanity into a self-destructive digital singularity, it’s here to stay. We have yet to see exactly how AI will impact us as individuals and as a society, but we already know that it has many benefits, from speeding up computer processing to improving our ability to predict natural disasters. Unfortunately, there are also risks associated with artificial intelligence.
Although it is commonly believed that artificial intelligence (AI) will be humanity’s end, many reputable scientists believe that could never happen. In a letter titled Research Priorities for Robust and Beneficial Artificial Intelligence, signed by hundreds of prominent scientists, tech leaders and innovators, including Elon Musk and Stephen Hawking, experts put forward five research priorities to ensure AI would have a positive impact on humans. How humans use AI in the future remains the real threat, and that is the question which only time can tell the answer to.
