Developed a visually striking promotional poster for “Just A Minute (JAM),” a fast-paced public speaking competition organized by our college club. The design was tailored to capture the energetic and time-sensitive nature of the event, using a bold typographic hierarchy, vibrant color palette, and clean spatial composition to ensure clarity and visual engagement across digital platforms.
Workflow:
Requirement Gathering & Theme Interpretation:
Collaborated with the event coordinators to understand the core objective, audience demographics, and thematic tone of the event — emphasizing spontaneity, quick thinking, and audience appeal.
Moodboarding & Style Reference:
Identified visual references with dynamic compositions and high-contrast design elements to evoke a sense of urgency and excitement. Selected a color scheme that balanced playfulness with legibility, integrating elements that supported fast visual scanning.
Layout Structuring & Typographic Design:
Utilized Canva to establish a vertical layout with strong central alignment. Key information such as the event name, date, and club logo was strategically positioned to create an intuitive visual flow. Typography choices were made to reflect emphasis and hierarchy, using variation in weight and size.
Graphical Element Integration:
Incorporated illustrative and geometric elements to convey motion and rhythm, subtly reinforcing the “one-minute” challenge motif. Negative space was managed carefully to avoid visual clutter while retaining engagement.
Iteration & Feedback Loop:
Presented the initial draft to the club’s content and outreach teams. Iterative refinements were made based on clarity, readability across devices, and alignment with the club’s visual identity guidelines.
Finalization & Export:
Prepared the final asset in high-resolution format optimized for both social media dissemination and on-campus display.
