This was a self-initiated re-edit of an existing YouTube video, done as a storytelling and retention exercise.
The goal was to explore how structural changes, without altering the core content, can improve engagement in the opening moments of a video.
The original cut opened with a verbal explanation of the video format and rules.
In the re-edit, I restructured the opening to start with immediate action, the creator consuming and reacting to an expensive dish and delayed the explanation of the format, ratings, and intent until curiosity was established.
Shifted the intro from explanation → action
Opened with the most engaging visual and emotional moment.
Reintroduced context and rules once viewer interest was secured.
Focused on pacing, breathing room, and letting moments land naturally.
Made intro more engaging and performed some more edits to make video more engaging.
The aim was to hook the audience emotionally before delivering information, reducing early drop-off and giving viewers a reason to stay engaged.
No content was added or removed, only the order and emphasis were changed to strengthen narrative flow.
