Extensive website with hundreds of pages. Unfortunately, much of the content was outdated, irrelevant, and underperforming. Their topical authority suffered due to this bloated content, impacting their organic search rankings.

👉 The Challenge

Invested significant resources in creating these pages, making outright deletion which suggested was a difficult decision. However, they recognized the need for improvement and this is where my expertise comes in.

👉 My Proposal

A content-pruning strategy to enhance their website’s overall quality and relevance. Competitive keywords are difficult to rank, and a lot of time would take so recommended to go for impressions from multiple blogs that are currently buried in search engine results. Rather than ranking for transactional keywords. 

👉 Implementation Steps

1. Content Audit and Analysis

- Conducted a thorough audit of all existing pages.

- Identified pages with zero or minimal traffic.

- Prioritised content based on relevance and potential impact.

2. De-Indexing and Pruning

- Recommended de-indexing approximately 50% of the pages.

- These included outdated blog posts, redundant product pages, and low-quality content.

3. Internal and External Linking

👉 Conclusion: 

Organic Traffic Boost: Pages receiving more than 100 organic clicks per month increased by over 700%. Key blogs that were previously hidden now appear prominently on the search results.

Content pruning, while initially challenging, proved to be a strategic move. By prioritizing quality over quantity, they achieved better rankings, increased organic traffic, and enhanced their overall online presence.
