As part of my Strategic Management coursework, I conducted an in-depth study on the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices of Waaree Energies Ltd., one of India’s leading solar energy solution providers. The objective of the project was to evaluate how effectively the company integrates sustainability into its strategic decision-making and long-term value creation.
The study explored Waaree’s environmental initiatives, including solar module manufacturing, carbon emission reduction, renewable energy promotion, and waste-recycling policies. On the social front, the analysis covered employee welfare, workplace safety, skill development programs, and CSR initiatives focused on education, rural electrification, and community development. Under the governance pillar, the project assessed board structure, transparency, ethical compliance, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
Through ESG framework mapping, I identified how Waaree uses sustainability as a competitive advantage, positioning itself not just as a product manufacturer but as a catalyst for India’s clean energy transition. The project also involved benchmarking Waaree’s ESG performance against global solar firms and analysing how ESG drives investor attractiveness and regulatory alignment.
This project strengthened my understanding of strategic sustainability, ESG reporting standards, and corporate responsibility as a core business strategy.
