Case Study: Surpassing the Competition – How Local SEO for an Interior Design Website Drove 300% Growth in Clicks

This project was executed in collaboration with my manager and team between June 2023 and March 2025. The client, a luxury interior design firm based in Aspen and Snowmass, Colorado, caters to affluent homeowners seeking comprehensive interior design solutions—from concept to completion.

Strategy & Execution

1. Keyword Research and Local Content Development

Identified high-value local keywords such as “Aspen interior designers” and “Interior designers in Snowmass, Colorado.”

Created dedicated location-specific landing pages for Aspen, Snowmass, Basalt, Carbondale, and Denver.

Built a Before & After project portfolio to showcase design transformations, increasing engagement and trust.

Developed blog content on design styles, remodeling tips, and luxury décor ideas to strengthen topical authority.

2. Backlink Acquisition

Partnered with the outreach team to acquire authoritative backlinks, using target anchor texts like “Aspen interior designers.”

Boosted the site’s Domain Rating from 3 to 38, enhancing overall search visibility.

3. Google Business Profile Optimization

Optimized the Snowmass office’s GBP, achieving #1 ranking in the Local Pack.

Set up and optimized the Aspen office GBP, which secured a top 4 position in map results.

4. Content Enhancements Post-Core Update

Following the March 2024 Google Core Update, upgraded content to align with EEAT (Experience, Expertise, Authority, Trust) guidelines.

Enhanced author bios, citations, and sourcing to improve credibility and compliance with ranking standards.

Results (June 2023 – March 2025)

Clicks Growth: Increased from 30 to 830 clicks/month (+300%).

Domain Rating: Improved from 3 to 38 through quality backlink acquisition.

Conversions: Attracted and converted two high-ticket clients.

Local Visibility: Secured consistent presence in the Local Pack for primary locations.

Brand Authority: EEAT-focused blogs generated qualified inquiries about specific design styles and commercial services.

Conclusion

This project demonstrates how a strategic mix of local SEO, GBP optimization, content development, and backlinks can help luxury service-based businesses outperform competitors.
