Created this short-form vertical video (9:16) as part of the Video Editor trial assignment for Playto (collaborating with Australian creator Oliver Merrick for the Orange Slice app).
The objective was to transform over 12 minutes of raw 4K DJI talking-head footage into a tight, 45–60 second high-retention reel explaining the Orange Slice workflow. Following the creator's precise visual guidelines (inspired by accounts like Kallaway and Open Residency), I focused on meticulous A-roll curation, fast frame changes every 2–3 seconds, modular split-screen layouts, and custom UI screen-recording integrations while adhering strictly to brand typography and the 8px corner-radius design system.
🎯 A-Roll Curation & Pacing – Scoured 12+ minutes of multi-take 4K footage to string together the sharpest takes, cutting dead air and pacing dialogue to match high-energy creator standards.
📐 Dynamic Layouts & Multi-Panel Splits – Implemented 50/50, 80/20, and 3-thirds split screens alongside full-frame cutaways to keep visual momentum shifting every 2–3 seconds.
🎨 Strict Brand Design System – Built all visual overlays using Oliver's brand colors (Light Blue #279AC0, Dark Blue #081F26), custom gradient accents, and consistent 8px/16px/24px rounded borders with zero hard corners.
📱 Subtitles & Kinetic Typography – Synced crisp, un-animated Montserrat Bold captions line-by-line (2–4 words per block) to match natural speech cadence without blocking face framing or UI elements.
🖥️ Product UI Walkthroughs – Integrated Orange Slice app screen recordings and asset mockups to demonstrate key features step-by-step as they were mentioned.
🎧 Layered Sound Design & SFX – Mixed subtle UI clicks, digital whooshes, risers, and music ducking in Premiere Pro to give tactile weight to transitions and cuts.
