Abstract—The integration of Internet of Things (IoT) tech- nologies is reshaping how modern aircraft—both manned and unmanned are monitored and maintained. This report ex- plores real-time health monitoring frameworks that leverage IoT architectures, including layered Edge–Fog–Cloud models and decentralized swarm-based networks. It highlights enabling technologies such as embedded sensors, communication proto- cols, and edge computing platforms. Two representative case studies—one focusing on engine monitoring, and MQTT-based UAV control with real-time DOS detection—highlight practical implementations. the report illustrates practical deployments. A comparative analysis of architectural models and intelligence dis- tribution highlights emerging trends and directions for scalable, autonomous, and mission-aware IoT applications in aviation.
