The AI Bubble

Leonard: Sheldon, everyone online’s talking about this AI bubble. Nvidia just hit 5 trillion dollars. How’s that even possible?

Sheldon: Ah, Leonard, welcome to Economics for the Overexcited. It’s not profit—it’s a feedback loop.

Leonard: Meaning…?

Sheldon: OpenAI buys billions worth of Nvidia chips. Nvidia then invests billions back into OpenAI. OpenAI spends another few hundred billion renting servers from Oracle… which conveniently also runs on Nvidia chips.

Leonard: So the money’s just bouncing around?

Sheldon: Exactly. It’s what economists call “financial round-tripping.” Think of it as passing the same dollar through five wallets and pretending it multiplied.

Leonard: Wait, that sounds… sketchy.

Sheldon: Not sketchy—just optimistic. A trillion dollars of optimism, to be precise.

Leonard: So if OpenAI stumbles—

Sheldon: —the entire AI hype train derails. Nvidia’s stock drops, Oracle panics, and the economy collectively screams “system error.”

Leonard: Wow. So it’s like everyone’s rich… until someone asks for actual cash.

Sheldon: Correct. It’s the 1999 dot-com crash, wearing a new hoodie labeled “Artificial Intelligence.”

Leonard: And how did you figure all this out so fast?
