Repurposing Cognition's Content on social platforms
We publish long-form issues on Cognition, averaging 800-1000 words per issue
Quick Context:
Cognition is a documentation-based newsletter for freelancers, content creators, and business writers—helping them ace the content game and create better business systems.
We publish,
- Long-form documentation of my work in building a freelance and content business
- Guest emails from top content minds; exclusive to subscribers
- Short, private hacks for the subscribers
It'd be difficult to copy-paste the same content (formatted differently, of course) on social media because of the attention spans and time users spend on each post
But to promote Cognition on social media, we need to share snippets of the content
Hence, this assignment:
- Pick any Cognition issue from the archives
- Repurpose the content into three things:
- Long and detailed Twitter thread or LinkedIn post
- 5 one-liners from the newsletter that you think will bring engagement while making sense without the full context
- 1 post (on Twitter or LinkedIn) where you summarize a ~800-word newsletter in a ~150-word post. Example: Turning a detailed case study into a post with 5-7 bullet points or actionable steps
More details:
- The purpose is to drive engagement and make people check out the newsletters (and eventually subscribe.) The repurposed content should act like a trailer for the insane value readers get in full-fledged issues
- Make sure the style and voice of the newsletter remain the same
- CTA should be about checking out the newsletter (directly or indirectly, I leave that to you)
- Brownie points for strong hooks
- Feel free to come up with concepts or formats beyond the brief. We're open to anything you think is the best
- Images or design inputs are a bonus (don't worry, we won't ask you to design if you get selected—we have a really good designer)
- The posts will go on this LinkedIn and Twitter
- It's a plus if you create content actively on social media (or if you run your newsletter)
PS: We are not immediately hiring but we are carefully reviewing all the content pieces to hire in late 2024 Q1. But if you show exceptional promise and if we feel your work can grab us many eyeballs, we won't hesitate to hire you immediately
Good luck!! We are looking forward to your submission
