Here's the deal - there are a ton of resources out there to help you learn design, but to really accelerate your learning, you need to find the right community and cohorts helps a lot in creating the roadmap for you.

What are Design Cohorts?

Design cohorts are small groups of aspiring designers who come together to learn, network, and support each other. When you find the right cohort for you, it can transform how fast you pick up new skills. 

In this article, I along with my team member Prantik have compiled this list of 5 of the best design cohorts and bootcamps you should join right away. These programs will connect you with mentors, and new community members, expose you to new tech and tools, and help you build real projects for your portfolio. Let's dive into it ✊

1. UI/UX Design Cohort by 10kdesigners

This is a 4-month, live online program that teaches you the fundamentals of UI/UX design. You'll learn everything from user research and wireframing to prototyping and visual design. The program is led by Abhinav Chikkara the founder of 10k Designers. 

Here are some of the things that I like about the UI/UX Design Cohort by 10kdesigners:

  • The program is led by a team of experienced designers and mentors.
  • The program covers a wide range of topics, so you will learn a lot about UI/UX design.
  • The program includes a mentorship component, where you will be paired with a senior designer who will help you with your portfolio and career development.
  • The program is online, so you can participate from anywhere in the world.

2. UI/UX Open Design Cohort

UX/UI Open is a free online bootcamp(only for 30 days) that teaches you the skills you need to become a UX/UI designer. The bootcamp is divided into 10 modules, each of which covers a different aspect of UX/UI design. 

The bootcamp also includes a number of resources to help you succeed, such as:

  • A community of over 7,000 designers
  • Mentorship from experienced designers
  • Assignments and projects to help you apply what you're learning
  • A certificate of completion

The next open cohort for UX/UI Open is scheduled to begin on July 11, 2023. You can sign up for the waitlist on their website.

It is idea for students who want to learn more about UI/UX design first and pay  afterwards for more access.

3. The Designers Cohort :Sweet Daddy Designs

If you're looking to up your skills and connect with like-minded creatives, you should check out The Designers' Cohort. This program was created by Sweet Daddy Designs, a design studio that specializes in brand strategy and web design for entrepreneurs.

The creator, Melissa Perkins, wanted to create a space for designers of all levels to improve their craft. Whether you're a graphic designer, web designer, illustrator or generalist in all of the mentioned skill sets, The Designers' Cohort has something for you.

The Cohort offers a variety of resources, including:

  • A Discord group where members can chat, share work, and get feedback.
  • Monthly live chats with guest experts.
  • Monthly coworking sessions.
  • A notion database with past chats, resources, and templates.
  • Monthly challenges to help members grow their businesses.

4. UI/UX Design School - Design Boat

DesignBoatSchool is one of the leading UI/UX design schools in India offering various design courses and corporate training for building mobile apps and websites in Bangalore, Pune, and Chennai, India. As a student, you'll learn in-demand skills to become a UI/UX designer through their comprehensive design curriculum.
