Hello Friends,
A few decades back, no one ever imagined the level of things are being possible only because of technology.
Whatever problem you face, there are a bunch of technologies ready with the solution. Today’s creator came up with a cool way to build a blog super quickly “AbellLand”, when he didn’t find a proper solution for his problem.
Let’s discover the journey of Saurabh and his ultimate passion for building 👇
Q. As you are currently building AbellLand, Curious to know how your journey as a creator started.
A. I think I wanted to build a blog so I thought it would be fun to write a script that helps me build a blog. Initially, I didn’t realize I will build a proper static-site generator.
Just eventually kept working on that idea and it turned into a static-site generator.
Q. What was the first thing, you had built or created?
A. I don’t exactly remember to be honest. Probably a tic-tac-toe game I believe.
Q. What’s the one thing you want to achieve in 2021?
A. I don’t generally keep any goals as such. Just trying to get better at what I do 😄.
Q. What are you reading these days?
A. I do want to read some astronomy books. I’ve been reading a theory of everything by Stephen hawking on and off for a long time.
Q. What’s the one mistake you have done and will advice others not to repeat that?
A. I used to think too much about the small decisions like ‘which framework to learn’, ‘should I learn this or that’, ‘should I learn something from this article or that tutorial’. but in reality, these decisions are not lifetime commitments. Even if you end up learning from the wrong article, you will always have some time to fix that and learn from the right one.
Also, there isn’t one right way of learning, whatever works for you is the right way.
Q. What do you love to do when not working? Any hobbies you want to share?
A. I like to explore multiple hobbies. Bad at all of those but just prefer to do whatever I feel like doing at that moment. Sometimes I like sketching sometimes I just watch movies. I also like going on treks but couldn’t go on any for a long time because of the pandemic.
Q. Can you tell a bit about your current project?
A. So currently I am working on abell which is a static-site-generator. There are few things that I learnt along the way so far so now it’s time to use those learnings and fix some of the mistakes I made in the tool. I don’t actively work on it though. Just whenever I feel like working.
Q. Can you name three Creators on Twitter that inspire you most?
A. Hard to name 3 because I generally have people who help me with different things. So I reach out to some for career advice, reach out to some for tech doubts, depending on technology I can reach out to different people. They all inspire me in different things. Hard to rank them as such.
Q. What’s something you learnt/realized recently that you wish you learnt/realized much earlier?
A. So nothing as such in terms of tech but I wish if I was nicer to people earlier.
Q. Suppose there is a big whiteboard in front of you. What’s the first line you would like to write?
A. That’s tricky! I’ll probably write something like “Don’t think too much. If it works, it works. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t” That’s what I try to follow while building projects.
Q. What would you recommend to others who are looking to start their careers in the software development space on how to go about it?
A. Very basic advice but I’ll just tell them to have fun! Learn things which you find interesting.
