Hello Friends,
Do you know, a Twitter thread is becoming one of the largest collections of incredible thoughts from the world’s best thinkers?
But, we usually struggle a lot in searching for threads to read.
Today’s creator also felt the same pain and decided to come up with something cool that will solve this. That’s when Jonathan came up with Bipdash, a tool to search and browse an amazing collection of threads.
Besides building, he loves sharing his learning and helping other aspiring creators on Twitter.
Discover the journey of this amazing creator
Q. As you are currently building Bipdash, curious to know how your journey as a creator started?
A. I am a data engineer by profession. Throughout my career, I got obsessed with building data apps. Then at the beginning of the pandemic, I started building some apps for myself. That led me to learn web development frameworks like the MERN stack.
Q. What’s the first-ever thing you have built or created?
A. The first app I created is backtube, a streaming music aggregator web app (sourcing Youtube/Bandcamp). You can create playlists and discover other users playlists as well.
I stopped working on it when I understood that it could never really scale for more than a handful of users.
Q. What’s that one thing you want to achieve in 2021?
A. In 2021, I target to have 100 subscribers to Bipdash email digest. It is a service that allows you to receive the best threads per topic (up to your choice) packaged in an email/newsletter.
Q. What’s that one thing you are most curious about?
A. In general I am very curious to see how data science is evolving (ML, data automation, etc) and the opportunities rising in this space.
Q. What’s the one mistake you have done and will advice others not to repeat that?
A. After a long time without being able to make significant progress on Bipdash, I felt discouraged and started a new product (Followmaker) without really knowing where I was going.
I also didn’t really talk about it and so the beginning of the community I was able to build in April/May dismantled little by little. But I am back and ready to give Bipdash the shot it deserves.
Q. What do you love to do when not working? Any hobbies you want to share?
A. I love spending time with my wife and son (2 yo). I love going to different places with them like the beach or the playroom. I love listening to music and playing the guitar too.
Q. Can you name three Creators on Twitter that inspire you most?
A. Kevon Cheung, Bhanu Teja P and Janet Yen
Q. What’s something you learnt/realized recently that you wish you learnt/realized much earlier?
A. That I should have joined that Twitter community much much much earlier (joined in March 2021). It is crazy then how much I learn and grow just by interacting with other creators/makers.
Q. Can you tell a bit about your current project?
A. I believe in knowledge sharing. Threads are a great vehicle for sharing knowledge. Twitter allows thread creation for any topic.
Now the problem I observed is that it is very easy to miss threads, even from authors we follow closely. It is also very hard to get threads from a particular topic, Twitter search is not built for that.
So I created @Bipdash to tackle these issues. It has a search UI and will allow (soon) to receive the email newsletter with the best threads per topic.
Q. What’s that one book/movie that has changed your complete perspective about the world?
A. Our Band Could Be Your Life by Michael Azerrad
Q. What would you recommend to others who are looking to start their careers in the startup/SaaS space on how to go about it?
A. To not be afraid to talk about your ideas and help others along the way, not waiting for something in return. People would then come to you and root for you. This is important to start and build your own brand.
Twitter is a good place to meet people embarking on similar journeys.
Q. Suppose there is a big whiteboard in front of you. What’s the first line you would like to write?
A. Hello World :)
Q. Who is one underrated person you believe in the creator community whose story should be shared with the world?
A. My friend Stephen. He is creating BffQuest to simplify finding and maintaining friendships on Twitter.
A tool to search and browse an amazing collection of threads.
