Hello Friends,
Do you know how information abundance affect your brain?
We are living in an age where millions of information are being dumped in front of our brains to feed. And, we are blindly getting deep into the rabbit hole without knowing its impact.
Today’s creator has come up with something that will help you in getting out of this danger zone.
Louis is a passionate creator who believes in scratching his own itches and come up with amazing projects. Read Something Great is one of them, a website that helps you in reading 5 Timeless articles from the belly of the internet at a time.
Besides, he also runs a newsletter that explains complex topics in a short and crisp format, Complexity Condensed.
Q. As you are currently building “Read Something Great”, curious to know how your journey as a creator started?
A. I just started experimenting on Twitter in 2020. Then joined a couple of online communities, and I’ve been partially living on the internet ever since.
Q. What’s the first-ever thing you have built or created?
A. Complexity Condensed — a newsletter that explains complex topics in exactly 500 words
Q. What’s that one thing you want to achieve in 2021?
A. Monetize some of the tools I’ve built.
Q. What’s that one thing you are most curious about?
A. Currently, the impact of excess information on our minds and how we’re going to combat that in the future.
Q. What’s the one mistake you have done and will advice others not to repeat that?
A. Do NOT try to be on Twitter to ‘get followers’ or ‘grow on Twitter’. It’s a stupid strategy that your audience can see through, and one that you won’t enjoy. Instead, just be yourself, make friends, and be useful to others folks on the internet.
Q. Which book you are reading these days? Which Genre excites you the most?
A. I am reading a few, most of which I will not finish:
- The Weirdest People in the World
- Michel De Montaigne’s essays
- Civilized to Death — The Price of Progress
- The Prize — The Epic Quest for Oil, Money & Power
- Lifespan
Q. What do you love to do when not working? Any hobbies you want to share?
A. I love building stuff on the internet and reading.
Q. Can you name three Creators on Twitter that inspire you most?
A. Lyle McKeany, Sasha Levage and Jakob Greenfeld
Q. What’s something you learnt/realized recently that you wish you learnt/realized much earlier?
A. Twitter has multiple circles that you can participate in. Each one will impact your worldview more than you know. Curate yours carefully.
Q. Can you tell a bit about your current project?
A. Besides “Read Something Great”, I’m building a tool that is like Linktree but for content creators. It’s a crowded space, but I haven’t found a tool that does what I want it to do, so I’m building it for myself and will share it with the world.
Q. What’s that one book/movie that has changed your complete perspective about the world?
A. Wanting — by Luke Burgis. It’s a book about mimetic desire, and it flipped my worldview on its head.
Q. What would you recommend to others who are looking to start their careers in the startup/SaaS space on how to go about it?
A. Start small, but start. Also, find a community of at least a couple of folks that you can work with, and play positive-sum games with them.
Q. Who is one underrated person you believe in the creator community whose story should be shared with the world?
A. Lyle McKeany
