Yesterday, I had a call with a Senior Media Buyer who has over 9 years of experience and is currently working in Germany.
During our conversation, I primarily focused on asking questions related to entering the Programmatic Advertising industry as a newcomer and inquired about career-related matters in general.
He shared with me a mini-roadmap that I have summarized into a few key steps.
Step 1 : Begin by taking a basic course that provides an overview of the entire programmatic ecosystem.
You can find such courses on platforms like Udemy, Skillshare, or learn from individuals within the industry whom you trust.
Additionally, stay informed about industry trends and developments by reading blogs and newsletters related to media buying and ad tech.
Step 2: Consider pursuing certifications from DSP platforms such as Trade desk, Amazon, or DV360.
Step 3: Improving your presence on LinkedIn and also gain experience in media buying, including platforms like Facebook Ads and Google Ads.
Step 4 : Utilize any previous experience you have gained and apply for roles such as Media Buying Trainee or Intern at prominent agencies like dentsu and Publicis.
Step 5: Build practical experience by working on programmatic campaigns within an agency.
Step 6: Lastly, ensure that you continue to enhance your skills and knowledge in the field.
